My Story

I’m Amanda Denise, a journalist and former TV news reporter and anchor with ABC and FOX affiliates. I created Cold and Untold, a true crime multimedia platform/podcast dedicated to shining a light on North Carolina’s cold cases and giving families a space to honor and share their loved one’s story.

My journey started with a deep curiosity about justice and storytelling. I hold an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology and a Master’s in New Media Journalism, where I graduated as valedictorian.

Through my work in television news, I've built strong relationships with law enforcement, families, and communities searching for answers, justice, and hope in the face of the unknown.

My background has also led me to serve as a Civilian Cold Case Investigator with the Kinston Police Department. In this role, I review old case files, analyze information, and assist investigators in taking a fresh look at cases that have gone cold.

Today, I continue that mission as a member of Craven County Crime Stoppers and as a board member for the NC Crime Stoppers Association. Both roles allow me to help bridge the gap between the public and law enforcement, encouraging collaboration to solve crimes and bring closure to families.

Also, to further my mission, I founded a non-profit called, Cold and Untold: Silence to Spotlight to provide resources for cold case families.

My mission in this work is straightforward: to keep cold cases visible, support investigators in moving toward resolution, and honor the families who continue to wait in the shadows of uncertainty.
